Various news...

Let's see. I guess since this is a knitting blog, I should start with knitting content. I did not finish the baptism dress. Well, I finished knitting it, but not the finishing aspect of it. My mom sort of insisted on Ayanna wearing the gown that my mom and her sister wore along with me and my three siblings wore. I mean, that is a cool concept, but it took the wind out of my sails. I put the needles down and haven't picked it back up. I am a bit bummed out that she didn't get to wear it. I know!! Maybe she can wear it for family photos we might get around to this weekend.

I finished my sister's sweater, but forgot to bring it with me to the baptism, so she doesn't have it, yet.

I started a vest for Malik. He picked it out and I am using stash yarn. I am already a couple of inches into the back.

I am also working on Voss for Ayanna.

Goals for this week are as follows:
Finish the baptism dress, anyway. I think i will make an appointment for pics right now.
Get 1/4 of the way in on Malik's vest
Finish the repeat I have already started on Voss.

Other news:
The baptism was good, except Ayanna wasn't interested. We were interrupting her nap, and she had a stuffy nose. She was not happy. Pictures, maybe tomorrow. The boys were both alter boys during the service. This was not planned this way, but just worked out like that. The girl who was supposed to serve did not show up. Oh well! The boys were too happy to oblige!

DeAndre' had his first reconcilliation this weekend. That was on Saturday, then all three of my boys were in a play at the church during a Mardi Gras celebration potluck.

All in all, it was a busy weekend. I'm pooped!

My DH

My DH is a Trekkie! (I knew this a long time ago.) Yesterday we were watching an old taped episode of Star Trek the Next Generation Season Two. In it a character (not a regular) was wearing a sweater. It had some cool cables and some bobbles and stuff. I was studying the heck out of it trying to figure out what it was doing. My DH who was almost asleep in the bed next to me asked me what I was thinking about. I told him, and he said "I knew it! I knew you were thinking about that sweater!"

Just had to share!

A FO!!

So, this weekend I finished the sweater for my sister's September 2005 birthday. YEAH!! I will give it to her on Sunday at the baptism.

I got an unexpected 3 day weekend! My boss told me at 4:45 on Friday to go ahead and take Monday off. However, I couldn't get off my butt to go to the LYS's on Saturday or Sunday. The ones closest to me are closed on Monday, and I had other errands to do on Monday, so I didn't go out of my way to get there. THEREFORE, I didn't finish the baptism dress. I am stuck on a part. I might be able to go after work tonight - depending on if I am left to my own devices to get home.

Anyway. I met some of my goals from last week. I didn't have the birthday sweater as one of them, so I sort of did better, and sort of did worse.

New goals for this week are:
Finish baptism dress
Finish DH hat that I started
Work on DH's vest
and voss (a pullover, not a cardigan) for DD
cast on for the second sock for my Step-dad

I got a new bag this weekend. It is my Valentine's Day present from my DH. I saw it and told him to get it for me.

It is nice! There is a water bottle holder, cell phone holder, and walkman holder all on the outsides of the bag. You can carry it like a backpack, or over your shoulder, or in your hand with a carry handle. There is a place for all your straight needles. Not really any other tool areas, and the inside is black, so stuff can easily get lost in there.

Goals met and surpassed

So, I previously said that I wanted to have the second sleeve finished by Friday - guess what?!?! I got it finished YESTERDAY!!! YEAH ME!!!

So, now I gotta figure out the pattern for the front so I can finish that, then I can finish it - I don't have much left. Then seaming.

Then if I can finish my sister's sweater, I will be sooooo proud!!

Poor neglected baby....

(Yeah, right!) Anyway, I forgot to post my darling daughter's results from her two-month check-up. She is now 8 lbs. 11 ozs. She got her shots. They hurt her, obviousely, but you should have seen her daddy! OMG!! You would have thought someone tried to kidnap her, or something. Quite a site!

I also have a baptism dress update. I got the first sleeve done, and am a couple inches (need a total of about 6 1/2 inches) into the second. I want to update my goals, but don't want to jinx my progress, so I will wait until either later today or tomorrow.

Could all my TONS of faithful readers (yeah, right - tons!:) who don't particularly care for everything cow please do me a favor and go to this website and send me guesses of how many taffies are in the basket. I wanna win the $50 gift certificate! If you like cows, then keep the guesses for yourself. I can enter once per day up to (and including?) the 28th.

Goals

I haven't made any goals in MONTHS (I think). So, here goes. I have to finish the baptism dress by the 26th (that is the date of the baptism - and, ironically, the date of the end of the Olympics, of which I am a member of UFOlympics). I have the potential to finish sleeve # one by today - so, I should say by tomorrow. Maybe the second sleeve can be complete by um... Friday. I am stuck on some wording on the front. I need help. Maybe I can go to a LYS this weekend and get help on that and the project from h-e-double-hockey-sticks this weekend. Then I can finish the front (of the dress, not the project) by Monday night. Then I will have time to seam it before Sunday morning. HEY!! That might be doable!

Of course, I had hope for finishing my sister's sweater for UFOlympics, too. We'll see!

Help me, please...

I have a knitting problem. I can't frog a 4 year old project. The yarn won't frog. If you think you can help me, this post has more info.

My best friend has a blog. She doesn't knit, but she wants to someday. Check her out if you feel like it.

It is really nice to be missed. I just wanted to say how nice it is that I have heard from clients and co-workers how nice it is that I am back and how much they missed me. I'm glad!

Olympics

When I am home, I have to go in the semi-secluded computer room in the back of the house to go online. I don't get to be in the living room with the tv and the action. Therefore, I don't spend much time online while I am home (it's okay, I usually have too much stuff to do to "play" anyway - it is okay to play at work!!!). Therefore, while I was at home for 7 weeks, I didn't make the blog rounds much. So, late last week was the first time I had seen about the knitting olympics. I read about it on someone's blog, and clicked over to Stephanie's blog to read more about it! Wow - really good idea, I thought! However, I have WAY too many things OTN to justify starting a new project "Stay strong, Jenni, don't be a joiner!!" Then I read this blog and I said "WOW! Are you actually in my head???" So, I am joining this one. I plan to have two projects finished by the 26th! One actually needs to be finished by then, because it is Ayanna's baptism dress and her baptism (let me know if this link doesn't work, so I can delete it) is on the 26th. The other is my sister's September birthday present that only needs the seams sewn up and has needed the seams sewed up since September. Oh, and the neck knitted. I have worked on it some since then, and only need one sleeve seamed up - it is attached to the sweater, just needs to be seamed. That is a very low goal. For the baptism dress, the back is complete and the front is maybe half way done. Just the rest of the front, the sleeves and put it together. I haven't had much knitting time since I started working, again, so these two projects might be too much, but I also have two sock projects that only have one of the pair done. The other sock isn't even started. I will "pencil those in" and if I get the other two done - then I can at least start on one of those.

Now, to go sign up - wish me luck!

This week

This week has been just crazy!!!

Since we have an extra member of the family that needs to go somewhere for the day, it has been hard getting down to a routine. Plus, we have some daycare issues for only this week and maybe next week. Due to all of this, every morning this week has been different, which means it is even harder to get the routine down. Today is only the second day I have been able to get to work on time. (I was never actually late, I just either was a minute or two late, or I had to park downtown so I wouldn't be late.)

I have gotten very little knitting done!!! I am working on a dress for Ayanna for her to wear to her baptism the end of this month. I noticed a quirk a couple of rows down, and I tried to just pull down that column and fix it - I have been able to do this successfully quite a few times in the past - not so much this time. That took valuable time where I could have actually gotten a couple of rows done. Needless to say, I have only finished a few rows all week.

DeAndre's birthday was yesterday. Normally, I make a cake (too busy), and put up a post (totally forgot). Instead I bought a cake and will put up a post today (hopefully).

Tonight he has a basketball game at 5:30. Malik's game is tomorrow at 9:00 am, and then we have church on Sunday, then a superbowl party at my brother-in-law's house. Call me un-American, but I don't care about football, or the Super Bowl. However, maybe I can get some knitting done. Busy, busy me!
